Overcoming Shame

Shame is a feeling that comes with the thought or consciousness or realization that one is not good enough or that one is deficient in a particular aspect when compared to other people.

The feeling of shame can come based on what one hears or due to what one is told.

The feeling of shame can also come when one begins to compare oneself with others.

The feeling of shame is the feeling that one is not good enough.

The feeling of shame in a particular area is the feeling that one is not good enough in that area.

The feeling of shame is the feeling that there is a deficiency that will make people laugh at, or mock.

Shame is generally based on what people will say or what people are saying,

Shame is also based on what people will think or what people are thinking.

The feeling of shame usually comes from what is perceived as  being reproachable,

It usually come with what one sees as a deficiency that people will laugh at, or mock.

It is a feeling that comes that one does not measure up to expectations of people or the opinion of people and because of that they will be laughed at, or mocked.

The feeling of shame erodes self confidence.

The feeling of shame can stop one from seizing opportunities.

The feeling of shame can stop one from expressing one’s gift  or potential.

I will be sharing with you some of the ways to overcome shame and they are as follows:

  1. Seek no validation:

The feeling of shame comes when one begins to think or consider what others may think or say.

Seek no validation from no one.

Seek no approval from no one.

Never allow your feelings to be regulated by the words of validation or approval of others.

And most importantly, consider not the disapproval or negative opinion of others.

Your opinion  should be what matters.

What you think should be what matters.

  1. Don’t compare:

The feeling of shame comes when one begins to compare oneself with others.

Do not compare yourself with others.

Be content with what you have while you aim at getting more.

Be content with who you are while you aim at becoming better.

You are special and unique,

You are very different,  and this is why you are not to compare yourself with others.

  1. Live Sincerely:

Be YOU, all the time.

Avoid living a fake life.

Avoid living a life that is not true just because you want to get the approval of others,

This is so important because as long as one lives this way, one may not be completely healed of the inner feeling of shame and one may not overcome the cause of the shame.

  1. Face it:

Identify the cause of the shame,

If it is something that you can work on, work on it.

If it is something you can not work on, then forget about it.

  1. Focus on your strength:

You are the salt of the earth.

Of what use is a salt without the taste that makes it a salt.

Focus on your essence.

Focus on your strength,

As you focus on your strength your eyes and your attention will move away from the weakness and what is causing the shame.

As you focus on your strength, people will begin to celebrate you for your strengths and that will take away the thoughts and feeling of disapproval that you thought hey had on you.

  1. Refuse to hide:

You are the light of the world.

Just like a candle can not be lighted and put under a table and covered,  refuse to hide yourself because you are the light.

Just like a candle is usually lighted and placed on a candle stand or on top of a place that will make the candle to shine bright,  bring yourself out and showcase your strengths,

Showcase your gifts,

Showcase your potentials.

As you keep showcasing your potentials, that feeling of shame will surely go away.

  1. Upgrade your consciousness:

Step up your consciousness from the consciousness of deficiency in a particular area to the consciousness that you are abundant.

Step up your consciousness from the consciousness that you are not good enough in a particular area to the consciousness that you are good enough.

Step up your consciousness from the consciousness of disapproval to the consciousness that you are approved by God,   and that is what matters the most.

  1. Change your beliefs:

When you change your beliefs, you change your thoughts,

And when you change your thoughts, you change your feelings,

And when you change your feelings,  you change your words, actions and experiences.

Your beliefs are that which you have come to accept and believe as being true and as such you allow it to regulate the way you think, talk act or respond to things and it begins to guide your decisions and choices.

Discover the beliefs that you have in your subconscious mind that is making you feel shame.

To get rid of an old belief, you have to replace it with a new belief.

So when once you identify a negative belief that caused the shame, replace it with fresh positive beliefs that will help boost your self confidence and self esteem.

  1. Filter and guard:

Filter negative words. Do not allow them to gain roots in you and affect your feelings.

Filter words that are capable of generating feelings of shame.

Avoid or stay away from people that talk down on others.

Stay around people that talk people up.

Guard your heart diligently,

Guard what you hear,

Guard your mind,

For out of your mind flows your experiences.

I am certain that as you practice the above insights that I have shared with you, that you will overcome the feeling of shame.

You are good enough.

You are abundant.

you are very special.

You are unique.

I know you believe in God,

For the scriptures says, No man who believes in Him, who adheres to, relies on, and trusts in Him,

Will ever be put to shame or be disappointed.
